Tanagra Cabernet Franc Blanc de Noir (Single Vineyard Wine)
A delightful fresh and dry Blanc de Noir with delicate fruit made of 100% Cabernet Franc from old vines of a certified single vineyard

Tanagra Cabernet Franc Blanc De Noir 2019 web The grapes for this delightful & unusual Tanagra Rosé come exclusively from old vines of our most precious and smallest certified single vineyard, our Cabernet Franc, a cultivar only rarely found as a single cultivar, let alone for a Blanc de Noir. It is a dry and deliciously fresh wine with a lovely salmon-like colour that can be equally enjoyed as an easy ‘pool wine’ or as a serious companion to food. It is perfect to enjoy now or within the next 2 – 3 years.

Vintage 2019
Vineyard North-facing vineyard (1 ha) at Tanagra (McGregor), at almost 140m altitude, registered as Single Vineyard. Soil mixed with slightly rocky parts and clay structure
Vines Planted in 2002, Rootstock: Richter 110; 4200 number of vines trellised in a North-South row direction on a 5 wire system
Yield 5 – 6 tons/ha
Vinification Early morning hand selected harvest to optimize grape quality at 22.5 ballings. The grapes are cooled down at 10 degrees overnight. Whole bunches are processed via a mash pump to gently squeeze the berries into a bladder press. Free run juice is separated from the stalks and skins, with only 5% of gently pressed juice. Minimal skin contact is given via this process. The juice is clarified, naturally, overnight. The clarified juice is moved to the next vessel where spontaneous fermentation takes place. Fermentation is done at a constant temperature of about 16 degrees Celsius. Fermentation takes about 4 weeks and the wine is kept afterwards for at least 3 months on the lees. Done with minimal interference through vinification, sediment may occur.
analysis 12.5 % Alc., PH 3.13, RS 1.1 g/l, TA 6.1 g/l
Tasting notes A salmon-coloured Blanc de Noir. There are strawberries and delicate berries on the nose, aromas that follow through to the palate and clearly show typical characteristics of the Cabernet Franc. The palate is fresh and crisp with a lasting finish.
